iCare at the ACHCA Annual Meeting and Hall of Fame Induction - Connecticut Chapter, 2018
March 19, 2018Members of the iCare team was on hand at the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) Annual Meeting on March 15th. Jessica was elected the organization’s Vice President of the Board of Directors and Patrick was elected a Director for the 2018-2020 term. Of note, 60 West Certified Nursing Assistant Otis Harris was inducted into the CNA Hall of Fame; a distinction unique to ACHCA.
Fresh River announced the creation of a Parkinson’s Disease Support Group to be held at the center in East Windsor. Members of the public are encouraged to attend. The meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm. The meeting is supported by the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) with structure provided by a local Program Director for the organization. Due to pulmonary disease, I have had other recent hospitalizations and associated rehab stays. Both rehabs said they had pulmonary services but I ended but back in the hospital shortly after returning home. This time I spoke with my pulmonologist, Dr. John Rodgers, and he recommended Touchpoints Rehab. How wonderful to have “MY pulmonary team” at my side at the hospital and then again at Touchpoints at Farmington. Touchpoints will be my only choice from this day forward
If you are out and about, take a look at the Touchpoints at Bloomfield grounds and see what we are up to. For the past three years we have been tapping our trees for sap to make maple syrup from scratch. We are lucky to have our very own Andy Cassasa, Director of Maintenance, collect the sap and cook it down to make pure maple syrup. Every year it’s a tradition for the recreation department to make homemade Belgian waffles for our residents with our very own maple syrup.
Silver Springs Care Center on Roy Street in Meriden recently celebrated receiving a Five Star CMS Rating. An iCare managed, 159 bed facility, Silver Springs specializes in memory care, behavioral health, Veteran’s care, short term rehab and substance use disorder treatment through the iRecovery program. The coveted Five Star overall rating was accompanied by a Five Star quality measures rating.
Touchpoints at Farmington - Career Fair: March 8, 2018
February 27, 2018Touchpoints at Farmington will be holding a Career Fair on March 8th, 2018 from 10am to 2pm. Open positions include Part Time RN Supervisor, Part Time Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and per diem dietary aides. Interviews will be conducted on-site and on the spot. Bring your resume and be prepared to interview with a member of the Human Resources team. Same day offers will potentially be made to qualified individuals. Bring two forms of ID and start dates will be within two weeks of hire.
iCare Holds CNA Skills Day at Keeney Center, 2018
February 22, 2018iCare held a clinical skills training session for a team of CNAs at the Keeney Center in Wethersfield on February 16th. Skills and techniques reviewed by the Skills Day instructors included patient lifting and moving, hygiene techniques, vital signs and other daily activities within the care centers. CNAs are a vital part of the front line staff and often have the most day to day contact with our residents. Their skills and interactions are critical to resident success and wellbeing.
